Overview

In the Northwest of the Iberian Peninsula, the famous Alvarinho wine, Verde Wine, was formed.

It was in Monção and Melgaço that wine was born and raised. Fell in love with our nature, grew up in the cold nights and the heat of the days of this region.

The 12th century Melgaço Castle is a northernmost sentinel in Portugal, overseeing the border to Galicia.

Itinerary

1º

Our tour will start early on the morning when we pick you up where you are accommodated.

2º

Travel by Mercedes Class V van towards one of the villages of Vinho Alvarinho, Monção.

3º

We start the tour in the Brejoeira Palace with guided tour of the Palace, Gardens, Old Cellar and Chapel.

4º

After this experience we will head towards the centre of Monção where we will visit its Mother Church and Paço do Alvarinho.

5º

Free time for personal discovery.

6º

We will continue for lunch where typical Portuguese dishes will be served and accompanied by a glass of green wine.

7º

In the afternoon we continue our trip to Melgaço Village, stopping at the Melgaço Spa.

8º

In the village of Melgaço we will visit the Memoria and Fronteira's museum where we will have a portrait of how the village used to be, migration and smuggling.

9º

Visit to the Cinema's Museum, full of old equipment used in the first cinemas.

10º

Then for lunch we will visit Solar do Alvarinho for wine tasting.

11º

Finally, visit the castle, Melgaço Keep tower, where you can enjoy the village from the top of it.

12º

Hotel / accommodation drop-off and end of our services.
