Overview

 Santa Luzia Sanctuary is the city’s calling card from which you have a prestigious view of the river, sea and mountains.

This view is considered the 3rd best in the world, according to National Geographic.

Viana do Castelo has a characteristic medieval centre and wonderful beaches bathed by the ocean and river. In contrast it is considered the “Mecca of Architecture” thanks to the many important Portuguese contemporary monuments.

Viana’s Heart is a heart-shaped gold medal that Minho women wear to their chest with their costume.

Itinerary

1º
Our tour starts in the morning when the Humus Travel guide picks up from your hotel / accommodation.
2º
Travel by Mercedes Class V van to one of the most beautiful cities in northern Portugal, Viana do Castelo.
3º
Upon arrival in the city you will appreciate a double iron bridge under the Lima River, named Eiffel Bridge, Gustavo Eiffel Eiffel the same engineer who worked on the Statue of Liberty and the Eiffel Tower.
4º
On the way to the Basilica of Santa Luzia, on the top of Mount Santa Luzia, on the top you can appreciate what is considered one of the most beautiful panoramic landscapes in the world.

Free time for personal discovery.

We head towards Praça da República, historical center, for lunch in a restaurant that will serve typical Portuguese dishes.
7º
In the afternoon, we start by appreciating the Costume Museum, where you will have the opportunity to see the vianese costumes, used today mainly at the Festivals of Agony that take place every year in August.
8º
After this breath of culture we headed to the Gil Eanes Hospital Ship of 1955, a museum nowadays of what the once-used hospital was like.
9º
Then a walk along the mouth to the Santiago da Barra Castle, Nossa Senhora da Agonia Church, patron saint of fishermen.
10º
Finally, visit the church of São Domingos.
11º
